Scary Monsters: Dave and Hanna's dogs
Pookie is the oldest pet in the house at about sixteen years old. He helps me with a lot of my writing. Well, he sleeps in my lap a lot while I write. He's really good at that. Pook is a rescue dachshund and has been living with me since 2000.

Polly is the senior ranking pet, although Pookie is a year older than Polly. Polly has been with me since she was a puppy in 1996.

My three little ones are miniature dachshunds, but Brandle is really small. At eight pounds she's about half the size of the other two dachshunds. She is also really, really loud. Brandle is an accomplished car thief and art critic.

Tansy is the newest member of the household. Even though she was born in 2005, we still think of her as our puppy. She's a golden retriever, cocker spaniel, and beagle mix.

It's hard to catch all four dogs in the same place at the same time. Whenever we spot them snoozing together in a nice photogenic spot, they all scatter before we can slip away and get a camera. Here are "the girls" together.
