D-CATR NavalScreen Shots: Gun Combat
The gunfire screen. If you've played any of the Shipbase series, this will all look familiar.
The gunfire results screen. Again, this is all familiar territory if you've seen the Shipbase screens.
I added a "View Log" feature based on feedback from some gamers who said they didn't feel comfortable with computer-assist wargame rules because of the "black box syndrome". They couldn't tell what the computer program was doing "under the hood" so they didn't know if they could "trust" the underlying game system or not. To deal with this issue, the Log screen lists every single dice roll, need-to-hit number, modifier, and all the other calculations and data lookups the computer is doing. Nothing is hidden. Just hit the "View Log" button, and you'll be able to read more than you ever wanted to know about what just happened.
The log goes on and on...
... and on and on...
The Gun Data Editor. You can use this lovely little utility to add new gun types and change the characteristics of the guns already in the system. If you think the Italian 3.9 inch L/47 gun hits just a little too hard, here's where you can change that. Based on feedback from Shipbase III players and gamers playing other computer-assist wargame rules, I've tried to make as much of the game data as user-edit-able as possible.
